I'm Sebastian from Berlin and I am a software engineer.

I work on web related projects (scalable, distributed microservices at scale) and love to discover new software related topics. Currently my focus is on distributed systems and their fundamentals.
Beside this, I travel around the world and keep my eyes open for interesting people.

Work (outdated)

I work as a Data Engineer at Plista. On a daily basis, I work with Scala, Akka, Kafka, Docker, Cassandra, RabbitMQ, Mesos, Parquet and Bash.

In the last years, I was involved in different projects in Berlin. A few them are: Zalando, RebateNetworks and Hipaway. I worked for Discavo, a startup in the hotel business based on play! microservices.

During my time as a freelance eCommerde developer, I workd wih php (Symfony2, Magento, Silex, cakePhp and Wordpress), Java and Scala (Playframework2). I used JavaScript for frontend-development (AngularJs), non-blocking I/O services (node.js) and local development tasks (grunt). To store data, I used MySql, Postgres and MongoDB.

When it comes to performance and scalability, I am used to developy on AWS, Bare-Metal datacenters and Mesos as a cluster resource manager.

During my studies at the TFH Berlin (Bachelor) and the HTW Berlin (Master), I got the change to dive into all kinds of different topics and challenges.
